Session prep checklist

Before, during & after game night

Campaign Session / date

1. Set the objective

Write tonight’s objective and opening situation. Prepare two or three choices and consequences. Confirm attendance, time, and table boundaries.

2. Prepare the scene

Give NPCs a want, fact, and response. Define the quest’s completion condition. Review creatures and an optional map / player preview.

3. Gather the party

Check the lobby’s players and selected characters. Confirm HP, resources, conditions, and companions. Review the roster; adding participants does not roll.

4. Run and record

Roll initiative, review the order, begin the encounter. Track agreed HP, conditions, and important decisions. End the encounter and review saved / encounter values.

5. Reward and recap

Record earned rewards once; review recipients. Check reservations and confirmed claims. Review recap text for secrets, then publish deliberately.

6. Prepare next time

Update session, NPC, and quest outcomes. Confirm the players’ next lead. Save three specific tasks and verify the save.
